On Friday, Donald Trump called for Joe Biden to undergo drug testing before the two upcoming presidential debates in which both candidates will participate.
Trump cited Biden's State of the Union address in March, accusing the current president of being under the influence during the speech.
"I want to debate him, and I’m going to demand a drug test too," Trump declared during a speech at a GOP dinner in St. Paul, Minnesota. "I really am. I don’t want him coming in like he did for the State of the Union. He was high as a kite," the former president and leading GOP candidate added.
The Biden campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
This isn’t the first time Trump has called for Biden to be drug tested. In 2020, Trump questioned Biden’s debate performances during the Democratic primaries, describing them as "uneven," and insisted on a drug test before their debates in the lead-up to the general election. However, neither candidate underwent drug testing before their 2020 debates.
This week, Trump and Biden agreed to debate each other on June 27 (on CNN) and September 10 (on ABC).
"I think the networks will be fair enough," Trump remarked on Friday regarding the upcoming debates.
Stay tuned for more updates as the debates approach.
